Who provides Doku Solver
Doku Solver is provided by John Cotter, whose Google Play developer name is JPC3. This policy covers the app identified by io.johncotter.dokusolver and these support pages. Privacy questions: support@johncotter.io. App support: support@johncotter.io.
Puzzle images and board information
When you choose Camera, a photo or a screenshot, the app reads the image on your device to identify puzzle corners, colors, regions and existing pieces. It calculates a solution or hint locally. It does not upload your images or puzzle data, run remote recognition, create an account, send analytics or automatically send crash reports to us. There are no ads, advertising identifiers or subscriptions. Android editions that show a trial counter offer a one-time full-app purchase through Google Play; earlier editions and the current iOS edition do not include this purchase.
Camera access is optional and used when you take a puzzle photo. Photo selection grants access to the images you choose. You can decline camera access and import an image instead. The app does not use your microphone, location, contacts, messages or browsing history.
Optional screen helper and accessibility access
For supported games, the optional screen helper uses the AccessibilityService API to read the selected game's puzzle screen and board descriptions. After you tap Read grid, it solves the visible board using fixed puzzle rules, places missing pieces with a finite sequence of taps or holds, and checks the game screen to confirm progress. Access is limited to the selected supported game and the solver's own workflow; this is not a general screen-monitoring service or an accessibility tool designed for disability assistance.
The ordinary setup screen explains this access before you choose Agree and enable. You can choose a screenshot instead or go back without enabling it. Your device separately asks you to grant accessibility access. Screenshots and board descriptions are processed locally, are not transmitted or shared, and are not kept as a screen history. Stop interrupts placement. You can turn the helper off in its Screen access controls or in your device's accessibility settings.
Temporary storage and deletion
Imported and captured images may create temporary files in the app's private cache so recognition and display can work. A helper capture expires after about ten minutes and is normally removed when replaced or when that capture is released. After an unexpected shutdown, a temporary file may remain until the app or operating system clears its cache. The app does not maintain a persistent puzzle history.
Clearing the app's cache or storage through your device settings, where available, or deleting the app removes its local files. Removing a cached copy does not remove the original photo or screenshot from your photo library; manage that original separately in your photo app. Any device-managed backups are governed by your device and account settings rather than an app-operated cloud service.
Trial and Google Play purchases
Android editions with a trial counter store the number of free puzzle solves used and up to ten one-way puzzle fingerprints in private app storage. These fingerprints let hints and retries for the same puzzle count once; the trial record does not contain puzzle images, board layouts or a readable puzzle history, and is not uploaded to us.
Google Play processes purchases and restores under its own terms and privacy policy. Google handles your payment details; the app does not receive your card number. The app uses the Google Play Billing Library to obtain product prices and purchase status, verify signed purchase information, acknowledge completed purchases and restore the full-app unlock. A signed purchase record is retained privately on the device so previously verified full access can work offline. Purchase and restore requests require a connection to Google Play. We do not operate a purchase backend or receive these records on a server.
Clearing app storage or uninstalling can remove the local trial and purchase records; device backups may preserve app data according to your device settings. A completed full-app purchase can be restored using the same Google Play account. A successful Google Play ownership check updates the saved entitlement, including when a purchase has been refunded or revoked.
Support information you choose to send
If you email us, we and our email providers receive your address, message and any attachments you choose to include. We use them to respond and investigate the request, retaining them only as needed for support, related issues or legal obligations. Send only relevant information, and avoid passwords, unrelated personal details and images you do not have permission to share. Contact support@johncotter.io to request access, correction or deletion of support correspondence, subject to applicable legal requirements. We do not sell that information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose it when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
App stores, your browser and this website
App stores and device providers handle downloads, updates, backups and platform diagnostics under their own policies and your settings. Those services are separate from the app sending data to us. Opening Privacy policy or Help and support launches your browser. The browser and website hosting infrastructure process ordinary request information such as IP address, requested page and browser information to deliver and secure these pages. These pages have no advertising or analytics scripts. See Google's privacy policy for Google-operated services.
Security, audience and changes
Private app storage is protected by your device's app controls, and these pages use HTTPS. No system guarantees absolute security; protect your device and avoid importing unrelated sensitive images. Doku Solver is intended for puzzle players aged 13 and up and is not directed to children under 13. We do not collect an age or birth date. A parent or guardian should handle support requests for younger users and may contact us if a child has sent information that should be removed.
We will update this policy before introducing materially different data practices and provide any required notices or choices. The date above identifies the latest revision.
